Nadal’s ferocious topspin gives him the best forehand in history – it clears the net easily and then drops like a roller coaster. Many think it’s all about the high-forehand finish, but it’s not that simple. “It looks like he’s taking his racquet and whipping it above his head,” says Macci. “But his arm actually extends way out through the ball.”
The lesson: Power starts on the ground so take your racquet back as early as possible, explode from your legs, and hit as if you’re playing with two nets stacked on top of one another. A higher ball with greater spin means more depth and fewer unforced errors.
