Delaware River, New Jersey
Locals and New Yorkers looking to clear their minds come here to float the day away on the Delaware River. A mile south of the historic hamlet of Frenchtown, the Delaware Tubing Company will nudge you off on a six-mile journey that can take up to four hours. Though you can easily stand in the river, as it’s no more than four feet high, it’ll feel good to stretch out on the little island you’ll encounter before the next stop, which will be a floating food truck. Lunch comes with your tube rental, so take advantage of the complimentary buffet, which includes cheeseburgers, hot dogs, drinks, and a candy bar.
Rental: For $27 (Mon-Fri) or $34 (Sat-Sun), Delaware River Tubing offers the tube, a BBQ meal, shuttle bus, life jacket, changing rooms and showers, and free parking. Kayaks, canoes and rafts are also available.
