Los Caracoles Pass, Chile
This series of sharp switchbacks dubbed the “snails” pass (due to the slow traffic that often crawls along it) is surely one of the most ridiculously dangerous roads in the world. It’s often chockablock with trucks and traffic, but when that eases the Chilean side is a breathtaking barrel from 10,500 feet through hairpins and dips on a tight road with no guardrails. It’s insane in the way only South American roads can be.
