Lower Nanamocomuck Trail, NH
Like all great cross-country ski trails in the northeast, the Lower Nanamocomuck becomes one incredible singletrack trail run once the snow melts. Located on the outskirts of Conway, New Hampshire, this seven-miler follows the mellow flow of the bubbling Swift River, with the occasional log bridge to help with crossings. Still, it throws up plenty of roots, rock gardens, mud pits, and even a few climbs, as it leaves the riverside and heads up into the fir and birch forests. Fit locals often do the entire 14-mile out-and-back, but if you’ve only got lungs for one-way, park a second car at Bear Mountain Notch in White Mountain National Forest.
