Every ski resort, big or small, has a signature run — a single track that defines the entire mountain. These are the runs that you must ride (and ride well) if you want to claim you “know” a ski resort. Far from secret stashes, the signature runs are often beneath lifts, visible from day lodges and après bars and are watched closely by both locals and tourists. Like center court in Arthur Ashe Stadium, these runs dish out equal parts glory and humiliation. They are proving grounds, gut-checks, and test pieces for every dedicated snow rider. Each run is unique and requires a distinct set of skills. They all have their own legends and heroes, old timers who came before and locals who are their current kings and queens. “Above all else,” says Griffin Post, a pro skier who has traveled all over the world chasing snow, “they are the type of runs that you find yourself telling and hearing stories about.”
