Tons of climbers call the foothills of the Pyrenees mountain range home due to the number of difficult climbs in the area, especially near the town of Oliana. La Dura Dura, on an overhanging limestone cliff with dramatic streaks across it, is a 5.15c route, making it one of the hardest climbs out there. And you know it’s a serious challenge when sending it becomes a competition between two of the best climbers: In 2012, Chris Sharma starting bolting a line up La Dura Dura, but couldn’t see it through before Adam Ondra jumped in, taking advantage of Sharma’s work. He sent it in 2013 after 70 attempts over five weeks. Sharma followed six weeks later.
