HIKE THROUGH A STONE FOREST
Ditch the crowds gawking at prairie dogs in Theodore Roosevelt National Park and hike to the Petrified Forest, a series of sequoia trees turned to stone over eons. To get there, you’ll almost certainly have to pass wild horses and 1,500-pound bison. It’s the closest thing to America’s version of the walking safari.
