Hilltop Villages to Les Calanques
One of the best ways to explore Provence in the South of France is, surprisingly, on foot. Skip the typical circuit that’s jam-packed with tourists and opt for this 11-day adventure that was recently designed and launched by Mountain Travel Sobek. The one-of-a-kind route kicks off in the picturesque village of Avignon before wrapping up with a feast in Cassis after covering approximately 70 miles on foot. Expect a remarkable array of backdrops, including abandoned medieval villages, staggering limestone cliffs, lush vineyards, and rolling hills lined with vibrant lavender fields. Additional highlights include tracing the turquoise inlets of the Mediterranean Sea in the Parc National des Calanques and hiking along the windswept upper slopes of France’s famed Mont Ventoux.
