Earning a spot on a stamp is competitive: The U.S. Postal Service fields about 40,000 pitches a year before deeming 20 topics worthy. Making the short list this year are the National Parks, which are celebrating their centennial. In all, 16 stamps are featured in the National Park Service stamp pane, with photographs and paintings showing off the parks, as well as the wildlife that roam free in them.
