Only 10 months after a total shoulder reconstruction surgery, pro kayaker Ben Brown is back in the water and going bigger than ever: this time dropping New Zealand's Wairua Falls.
Wairu Falls is an easy-flowing 20-foot high box waterfall that goes most of the year without water. Until the the rainy season, that is. Then the falls look textbook perfect for paddling. "The fall is surrounded by lush rainforest and has almost always got a stunning waterfall waiting for you in the pool below," said Brown, according to a Red Bull report. "This is a drop any experienced and keen kayaker should do."
Brown, who was a member of the British Flat Water kayak team for a decade, just wrapped up another expedition in August. He and fellow paddler Anton Immler went on a 14-day circumnavigation of Iceland, seeking out the most epic waterfalls. The pair came back with some insane footage of the land of fire and ice, which was shot on a GoPro Hero 4.
