Not everyone drinks the SUP yoga Kool-Aid. To many it’s unfamiliar and stereotyped as silly. It’s good to be skeptical of new trends, but as SUP yoga continues to grow as a popular sub-discipline of our sport, it’s also important to approach with an open mind. There must be some good reason for the craze, right?
Beyond the yoga pants, excessive hashtags and trendy image sometimes pinned to paddleboard yoga, the practice provides an opportunity for mental and physical therapy that can’t really be achieved elsewhere. Performing a flow on still waters allows us to engage and enhance balance, clarity, strength, presence and peace in one of our favorite natural settings. So before you knock it, try it.
