EXPED Galaxy
($279, Out March 2017, www.exped.com)
One of the most interesting 2017 drybags we’ve previewed is the Galaxy from EXPED. With its truly waterproof design, we loved the simplicity and elegance of this bag. The outer fabric is tough PU-coated cloth with a waterproof inner liner. The liner features a roll-top closure, which allows the bag to expand and contract around loads of varying size (70 to 120L). The roll-top also takes all strain away from the zipper. Two over-the-top compression straps secure the load and hold the roll top in place. There are also two smaller, non-waterproof pockets on the outside and a hidden stash pocket inside. Both the handle and wheel design are a simple yet rugged and lend to the bag’s lighter overall weight at 7.8 lbs. The bag rolls easily and stands upright with no problem. The fact that this is the only waterproof soft-bag in the lineup makes it a top contender for those wanting to go straight from baggage claim to the put-in. The bag will be out on the market in March of 2017 and will sell for $279.
