None of this year’s Sundance films have whipped up the Oscar buzz like Whiplash did at the 2014 festival. But that didn’t mean there weren’t breakout hits such as the tear-jerking comedy, Me, Earl and the Dying Girl, and Dope the story of a high school senior who manages to ingratiate himself with the cool kids through a drug deal gone wrong. That’s not to mention documentaries like Meru, already a contender for the year’s best climbing film, and Being Evel, produced by Johnny Knoxville. Below are 12 of our favorites from the festival, hopefully coming soon to a theater near you.
