Yes, there are a few not-safe-for-prepubescents words in this sports-movie masterpiece, and sad-sack coach Walter Matthau sure does love his Budweiser. But this Little League shaggy-dog story has a great formative lesson embedded in its ballgame shenanigans: It’s less about winning than doing your best, going the distance, and sticking to your guns. Plus they could have worse role models than Kelly Leak — he’s, like, the coolest 13-year-old badass on a motorbike ever.
