Berlin 36
There are plenty of movies addressing the horrors of Nazi Germany, but Berlin 36 offers a unique perspective. Jewish high jumper Gretel Bergmann, played by Karoline Herfurth, was at the height of her career when she was removed from her national team just a few weeks before competing in the 1936 Summer Olympics. The movie explores what it was like to be kept from the sport that she loved in order to protect her family, and (plot twist!) ultimately being replaced on her team by an athlete who was later discovered to be a man.
