Chariots of Fire
Based around the real lives of two incredible runners preparing for the 1924 Paris Olympics, Chariots of Fire may take top prize for Great Olympic Movies. The Academy thought so, honoring the film with four Oscars, including Best Picture. Harold Abrahams is a Jewish man racing against anti-Semitism, and Eric Liddell is a Scottish Christian who finds strength in his faith. These two protagonists are driven by different passions, but their goal is the same, to send a message through their performance. The result is a rousing movie pair with a magnificent electronic score from Vangelis.
