Time to head back to a galaxy far, far away. The first look at Star Wars: Episode IX has been released with the first teaser trailer, also revealing the long-awaited title of the film: Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
The trailer debuted at Star Wars Celebration in Chicago, where the main cast joined Stephen Colbert to speak about the film. Director J.J. Abrams introduced the trailer, which picks up after the events of 2017’s The Last Jedi. In the trailer, it reveals that the main characters Rey (Daisy Ridley), Poe (Oscar Isaac), and Finn (John Boyega) are on a journey across the galaxy with Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) in hot pursuit.

The trailer also marks the return of Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian, while also hinting at the return of a classic villain from the trilogy: Emperor Palpatine.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be released on December 20, 2019.
