The Film Almost Starred Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise
An Almost Dynamic Duo: In what would have been the first-ever pairing of these A-list stars, Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise almost were cast in the project that would become Ford v. Ferrari. Then titled Go Like Hell and based primarily on the book Go Like Hell: Ford, Ferrari, And Their Battle For Speed And Glory At Le Mans by A.J. Baime, Cruise would have played designer Carroll Shelby, while Pitt was being eyed to play driver Ken Miles.
Directorial Vision: The final product may have looked a bit different under another director, and the project went through multiple hands over the years. Michael Mann (Heat, Collateral) was the first director to come to the project and had Pitt attached before it changed hands to Joseph Kosinski (Oblivion, Tron: Legacy). With Kosinski at the helm, Fox eyed Cruise and Pitt to team up for it. The movie would have reunited Kosinski and Cruise after Oblivion, but instead, they’re now working together on Top Gun: Maverick.
