Michael B. Jordan is steadily becoming the hardest-working man in Hollywood. In 2018, the actor starred as the villain in Black Panther, as a firefighter in the HBO adaptation of Fahrenheit 451, and has Creed 2 set for release in November, and now he’s locked in another potential franchise to add to his slate, the action flick The Silver Bear.
Jordan is set to star and produce in The Silver Bear, an action thriller based on the book series by author and screenwriter Derek Haas (Wanted, 3:10 to Yuma), according to Deadline. Jordan will play the main character Columbus, who ends up becoming one of the most “feared and respected hitman” in the world of criminals, mercenaries, and gangsters.
The book series has four entries, and if the first movie adaptation is successful, it could become a franchise for Jordan to lead. The nickname of the “silver bear” comes from a name for someone who “he never fails, and he seems immune to the stresses of his work,” according to Haas’s books.
“We could not be more excited to work with Michael and Lionsgate,” said producer Vishal Rungta of Nickel City. “We have been huge fans of Michael all the way back to his days in The Wire, and from our first meeting we knew that he was the perfect fit for the role of Columbus.”
Jordan is one of the most in-demand actors in Hollywood. Jordan is currently filming Just Mercy, where he’ll play civil rights defense attorney Bryan Stevenson alongside Brie Larson and Jamie Foxx, and coming up he’s going to collaborate again with his Creed director Ryan Coogler on Wrong Answer, an adaptation of the Atlanta school testing scandal.
Jordan will next be seen in Creed 2, out on November 21.
