It May Finally Be DC’s Answer to the Marvel Cinematic Universe
With the DC shared movie universe in a bit of a reset mode with both Wonder Woman 2 and Aquaman looking more like solo adventures, and Batman potentially being re-cast from Ben Affleck, this movie could breathe fresh life into the famous roster of characters in DC’s stable.
This is DC trying something new and different, and could be the answer to standing out alongside Marvel and its ridiculously-successful MCU run of films. In the same way that many movie stars are now going to TV to star in limited series so that they aren’t tied down by five-season contracts, actors like Phoenix might be more willing to star in comic book-centric films knowing they don’t have to worry about starring in multiple sequels and appearing in spinoffs. That freedom could allow DC to bring in more top-level talent in front of the camera, and behind it.
