Someone messed with the wrong superhero and his blockbuster Marvel wardrobe: Police officials have started a search for Avengers: Infinity War star Robert Downey Jr.’s legendary—and conspicuous—Iron Man suit, which has reportedly gone missing from storage.
According to The Los Angeles Times, the suit “vanished from a prop storage warehouse … sometime between February and late April.” In other words: kind of a long time for someone not to notice that a Marvel action hero’s costume just isn’t there anymore. The suit isn’t just making headlines because it’s a costume from some movie that came out in 2008 either: It’s reportedly valued at upwards of $300,000.
The LAPD told People in an interview that the storage facility “reported … that the prop was missing. It is considered a burglary.”
And while officials search for the missing wardrobe, Downey Jr.’s currently busy promoting the wildly successful action flick Avengers: Infinity War. Recently the actor showed off some seriously pricey style when he donned a Greubel Forsey GMT Tourbillion watch, which costs about twice as much as the Iron Man suit’s value at $605,000.
We’ll keep you updated on the whereabouts of the superhero suit as police release more information. But if officials can’t successfully find Downey Jr.’s iconic action duds, maybe the tons of people who helped Avengers: Infinity War break box office records can help.
