Scott Eastwood knows his way around cars. The actor has long been interested in cars, and his movie roles over the years have shown that with appearances in the Fast & Furious franchise, the car heist movie Overdrive, and his upcoming Guy Ritchie-directed movie Cash Truck, which also stars Jason Statham.
“Guy Ritchie. The man. The myth. The legend,” Eastwood said. “I’m excited to work with him really. I’m excited to get it going. Jason is the man. He’s so cool to work with. He’s an easy-going dude. I think it’s going to be really fun, him and I.”
Eastwood’s love of cars has led him to other places too, including a partnership with Kelley Blue Book and working with the company on the Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Awards. Eastwood attended the awards last month, which spotlighted the top new model-year vehicles available in the U.S. in 17 major categories. The awards ranged from performance car, midsize SUV, luxury, as well as a Best New Model winner.
Eastwood is no stranger to the Kelley Blue Book, as he previously has used Kelley Blue Book since buying his first car. Eastwood also presented the 2020 Best New Model winner at the awards this year. Here’s a look at the full list of the Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Awards of 2020.
I was invited to present one of the 2020 Best Buy Awards to help you find your next car. I’ve used Kelley Blue Book years. It’s a trusted resource for buying and selling your automobiles. Eastwood spoke about some of his favorite cars, working with Kelley Blue Book, his best advice, and more.
What do you love most about cars and driving them?
The need for speed… I’m just kidding! I like classic cars. I’m a big fan of classic cars. I also like the history of automobiles. I think that’s really cool. To see where we started from Henry Ford’s first production line to self-driving Teslas that will just drive you around. It’s pretty wild.
What has it been like working with Kelley Blue Book and why did you want to partner together?
Kelley Blue Book really is the best to partner with because it’s something I’ve actually always used and is something that I still use today. It’s been around for almost 100 years. It’s dope. It’s the gold standard. A car plays such an important role in your life and it’s essential to have a trustworthy source to help instill confidence when shopping – and that’s Kelley Blue Book for anyone in the market for a new car. It’s really cool to partner with a brand that actually helps so many people.
What are some of your favorite cars/model from the Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Awards?
I’ve always loved vintage cars – especially my 1972 Cheyenne. So, I would say I’m most excited for the Best New Pickup Truck winner. But I’m excited for all of them. Kelley Blue Book actually tests nearly every single new model car (over 300 models), so the 17 winners they select are all something special.
What models should people keep an eye on in 2020?
I presented the Best New Model winner at the 2020 Best Buy Awards ceremony (which is the 2020 Kia Telluride), but you should really keep an eye out for all of the winners on the list – there are 17 winners, which you can check out on KBB.com.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Keep your head down. Keep working. Keep your mouth shut.
What’s your favorite drink?
Big water fan. Big into water. That’s super boring, but I’m into water. Glass bottle water, actually. It just tasted better in glass and I’m all about total recycling, soup to nuts. Glass, you can recycle that forever. If it breaks, it goes to the sand, back to the Earth.
What’s your favorite meal to prepare?
Salmon, broccoli, sweet potato.
Do you have a favorite piece of gear or piece of tech you can’t live without?
Sunglasses. Could definitely live without my phone.
