NBA 2K18
While 2K Sports faces hardwood competition from NBA Live 18 for the first time in years, there’s still only one virtual champion. NBA 2K18 continues to push the graphical realism of The Association, using technology like photo techniques to differentiate players’ skin tones and laser scans to bring the new Nike jerseys and multiple sneaker brands into the game. But what’s most important is that the actual gameplay is more fluid, thanks to a new motion engine that seamlessly blends real player attributes with the controller’s stick input. That translates across of the game’s modes, including an improved MyLEAGUE that offers online play with up to 30 players per league. One of the coolest innovations is The Neighborhood, which combines the best parts of MyPARK, Pro-Am and the popular MyCAREER experience to create a shared world where players can socialize, explore and compete. Rounding out the myriad of options is the story-driven MyGM: The Next Chapter, which puts players in control of a former player-turned-GM who must navigate intricacies of the business like super max contracts, stretch provisions and exceptions. Sports simulation doesn’t get any deeper than NBA 2K.
