One thing’s for sure in the latest look at Venom: Tom Hardy isn’t messing around. After a couple intense, action-packed trailers, Venom clips have been revealed from the film, and the latest one unveils what happens when Hardy transforms into the iconic Spider-Man villain.
Hardy trained for months to bulk up and transform his body for the role—something he’s done plenty of times before, including in The Dark Knight Rises and Warrior. He also did fight training with MMA fighters, worked in boxing, and jiu-jitsu, training up to five times per week, sometimes twice per day to prepare to play Venom.
The Venom film will follow Hardy’s Eddie Brock as he investigates mysterious experiments at the Life Foundation, run by Carlton Drake (Riz Ahmed). When Brock has an interaction while investigating the company, he ends up being fused with an alien symbiote, giving him super strength, transforming him into the monster Venom. But instead of using his powers for bad, Brock’s Venom wants to do some good.
Even though he might not be doing too much good in this clip, it’s a pretty badass glimpse at how Hardy will look when he transforms into Venom. Check it out:
Venom, directed by Ruben Fleischer, will be released on October 5, 2018.
