Tom Cruise is suited up and ready to fly in Top Gun 2. The Mission: Impossible star has been back at work filming Top Gun: Maverick over the past few months, and some new photos from the set may reveal the first look at Cruise in costume as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell.
Cruise originally shared a Twitter post in Summer 2018 marking the start of filming on Top Gun 2, and recently shots of what could be Cruise’s fighter jet and new motorcycle in the film have trickled out as well. Cruise is starring in the film alongside Val Kilmer, who is returning as Iceman from the original Top Gun, Jennifer Connelly, Glen Powell, Miles Teller, Jon Hamm, Jay Ellis, and Ed Harris.
In the new Top Gun, Cruise’s Maverick will be working as a flight instructor and the story will follow how pilots in the program are adapting to drone technology and new piloting skills in the modern world. Joseph Kosinski, who directed Cruise in Oblivion and Connelly in Only the Brave, is directing the sequel.
