Fans at home could also live-stream his jump; he also used the hashtag #willsmiththejump so people could follow along on social media.

Smith had been challenged to do the stunt by Youtube personality Yes Theory six months ago.

“I’ve had an interesting relationship with fear my whole life,” Smith said during the live stream. “We drove to the Grand Canyon (when I was younger), and I remember having a deeply meaningful experience of how beautiful it was, but I was terrified of walking to the edge.”

Not only did Smith walk to the edge yesterday, he jumped over it. The bungee stunt wasn’t just a celebration, either. It raised money for Education Cannot Wait, a global fund dedicated to giving crisis-affected children a free and quality education and also raised awareness for the advocacy organization Global Citizen.
