Ici Ice Cream (Berkeley, California)
Ici Ice Cream is the creation of former Chez Panisse pastry chef Mary Canales. She opened it in 2006 as a place to create handmade, small-batch artisanal ice creams, sorbets, candies, and cookies using organic, sustainably raised, fresh, and local ingredients. The shop makes 11 flavors every day, many based on seasonal fruit, all served in cups or Canales’s handmade cones. You’ll find a list of daily flavors on Twitter; Vanilla and Chocolate are always there and, depending on the day, may be joined by Rose, Candied Meyer Lemon, and homey Brown Sugar Chocolate Chip.
