The trick to the perfect martini is using quality ingredients.
So make sure you buy good gin, of course, but, more importantly, get quality vermouth. “Not the stuff that you get in the supermarket,” says mixologist and Men’s Journal contributor St. John Frizell. “Get the best vermouth that you can find, and make sure it’s fresh.”
• 3 oz gin
• 1 oz dry vermouth
• dash of orange bitters
Pour gin into ice-filled highball glass. Add dry vermouth and a dash of orange bitters. Stir until very cold and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.
