We are probably already using a griddle for our pancakes, but griddling can go so much further. Ultimately just a large flat cooking surface, it provides a perfect area for cooking lots of food at the same time with even heating while freeing up your stove.
“Put on your chef cap and be your own short order cook at home with an old-fashioned griddle,” says Executive Chef and Founder of PALETA, Kelly Boyer.
“Because griddles are typically seasoned (meaning treated for non-stick results), it’s a healthy way to whip up a quick breakfast all on the same surface. Griddles come in all shapes and sizes,” says Boyer. Some have grates that will leave grill marks on the surface of the food, others are flat and provide a nice even sear.
Boyer shares there are electric counter-top versions also, but her favorite is an old-fashioned cast-iron flattop that covers the length of 2 burners. “I can cook all ingredients at once to save time on cleanup!”
