Brewer: Allagash Brewing
Style: Belgian Dubbel
The dubbel style is the second strongest member in the quartet of abbey-style ales, but one of the hardest to do well. This superb example, at seven-percent ABV, is a lighter-bodied, dry beer that doesn’t benefit from bigger malt background that tripels and quadrupels do. Instead, it maintains a delicate, nutty, fruity character, that if brewed poorly by someone else, would taste either taste a overly-sweet or harsh, dry mess.
