Brewer: Brauerei Aying
Style: German Dunkel Lager
Dunkel in German simply means dark. Every brewery in Munich makes a beer with this description and our favorite is the Ayinger Dunkel. Central to the appeal is the style’s uncomplicated easy-drinking flavor which is more reminiscent of a toasty breadcrust flavor than the roasted sharpness of a stout or schwarzbier. Dunkel is relatively low in alcohol, so it lends itself to serving in Munich’s famous liter sized glasses where it can be belted down in great quantities.
