Are Smoothies Scientifically Proven to Make You More Attractive?

Forget a haircut or a good night of sleep. Research that’s being conducted at the Schools of Psychology and Biosciences at the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC) suggests that gulping a smoothie every day may make you more attractive. 

A group of university students came together to test out the theory that nutrient-rich smoothies can affect your perceived attractiveness. Subjects in one group are drinking a smoothie made from carrots and other Malaysian fruits rich in carotenoids once a day for six weeks. Students in another group are consuming the equivalent amount of mineral water for the same time period.

Though this study is still underway, the results are expected to be promising. A previous study published in the journal Evolution and Human Behaviour found the connection between carotenoid-rich foods and improved facial appearance to be a significant one. In regards to the findings, lead researcher Dr. Ian Stephen explains, “There is a lot of research out there suggesting that people who look healthier actually are healthy.”

Fruit and veggie smoothies are more than just a passing trend. People are now more likely than ever to look to their diets when trying to enhance physical appearance, whether it is to improve the look of skin, to cut fat, or to increase muscle growth
