New Glarus’ sour beer program is one of the oldest in the nation and also one of the most unique. Where most brewers favor mouth-puckering tartness over big fruit flavors, New Glarus emphasizes the fruit first and the sour second. To that end, Belgian Red uses a pound of Wisconsin cherries in every bottle for an intense red brew balanced by the tart, slightly acidic finish.
