Breitbach’s Country Dining, Sherville, Iowa
Deemed an American Classic by the James Beard Foundation, Breitbach’s Country restaurant is nestled not far from the Mississippi River, which divides Iowa from Wisconsin. Iowa's oldest restaurant, Breitbach’s has been run by six generations of the Breitbach family since 1862. The outlaw Jesse James is said to have eaten here, and today it’s still frequented by bikers and locals alike. All the pork in Breitbach’s center-cut chop wrapped in bacon comes from nearby Iowan farms. It doesn’t get much fresher and more home-grown than this.
