2 oz Tanqueray gin
1/2 oz blackberry puree
1/4 oz simple syrup (or syrup made with sugar substitute)
7 mint leaves
1 oz club soda

TO MAKE: [1] Pour Tanqueray, blackberry puree, simple syrup, and 5 mint leaves into a shaker filled with ice. [2] Shake lightly. [3] Pour contents of shaker into a short rocks glass. [4] Top with club soda and garnish with remaining mint. [5] Serve.

To make a calorie-free simple syrup, use a 1-to-1 ratio of granulated sugar substitute and water. Mix ingredients in a saucepan, bring almost to a boil, remove from heat, and let cool. Store in your fridge and use as needed.

Using mint in this drink enhances the juniper-berry flavor and aroma of the gin. Plus, it’s good for you: According to data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, mint is a rich source of cancer-fighting antioxidants.

Researchers at the University of Western Ontario found that alcoholic cocktails – specifically gin martinis-that are shaken have stronger antioxidant properties than those that are stirred. No wonder Bond never seems to age!
