Men’s Fitness went to the South Beach Wine and Food Festival this year to find the fittest chefs in the business, and you might be surprised by how easy that was. An obvious choice was Chef Robert Irvine, Host of Restaurant: Impossible on the Food Network and famous for his solid build and massive biceps. But how does he stay in shape when he’s on the road surrounded by food 345 days a year? Well ask his crew of 15 people who go work out with him every day at 5am. That probably answers the question itself.
How does he maintain Irvine impressive biceps? It’s not by lifting a fork. He relies on preacher curls, cable curls, hammer curls, and reverse curls. You might think he lifts heavy weights, but in fact he recommends lifting lighter weights and doing more reps.
However, there’s more to being healthy than big biceps. Spokesman of Transitions lenses, Irvine says, “when we think of health and fitness, we think about our body but never think about our eyes. You know, we only get one set of eyes. So don’t overlook leafy greens, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, carrots, celery, fresh herbs, nuts, grains— all foods that are great for our eye health.”
