Rauch Märzen – Port City Brewing
While Port City Brewing’s Rauch Märzen does follow the smoked märzen tradition of Germany’s Franconia region, it’s a style not commonly found elsewhere. Giving more than a slight nod to Bamberg’s Aecht Schlenkerla brewery, Port City imparts a judicious amount of beechwood-smoked malts into the style’s traditional grain bill. The result is a smoky, bacon like flavor addition to an already rich style. And who doesn’t like bacon?
