Olde School Barleywine
Brewer: Dogfish Head
Style: English Barleywine
Dogfish Head makes the list again with a 15 percent ABV barleywine. While modern barleywines have been consistently brewed by American brewers for decades, this particular recipe came from an 18th-century London cellarman's pamphlet detailing how to re-carbonate cask beer by adding figs and dates. The resulting unfiltered brew is rich and sweet, but not without a subtle touch of velvety hops.
