Anyone who follows Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson on Instagram knows his drink of choice is tequila. So it’s no surprise Johnson’s been looking to expand his portfolio with his own line, which would put him in a big group of celebrities who have their own liquor brands.
Earlier in April 2018, Johnson applied to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office with the name “Mana”—a belief in the Pacific Islands that people have an innate supernatural, magical power. But, reportedly, the name was “too similar to other products,” according to The Blast. So if Johnson really wants this, he’s going to have to think up a new name.
Johnson and his team have a “grace period” where they can apply again for a tequila brand with a different name.

As he’s shown over the course of his career—with his major success in movies and television, and ventures in fitness apparel—if Johnson is determined to achieve something, he’ll find a way.
