FDA Approves Hangover Pill

Eggs, water, sleep, hair of the dog—we all have our tried and true hangover remedies. But more often than not, these remedies fail and we lose an entire Sunday curled into the fetal position while our lives flash before our eyes, getting up only to pay homage to the porcelain god.

But there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, and no, it’s not because you’re dead. Blowfish is a new over-the-counter remedy that claims to cure hangover symptoms in just 15 to 30 minutes. Blowfish comes in packets of two effervescent pills containing aspirin, caffeine and stomach soothers to dull the pounding headaches, nausea and fatigue that result from a night spent boozing. The effervescence means the drug hits your system and takes effect faster.

Creator Brenna Haysom, who admits she developed the product after one too many personal experiences, told the New York Daily News, “This is a really effective product for people who have a couple too many: A happy hour that goes a little long, or holiday parties are a perfect example … and they wake up feeling terrible. This gets you functioning again quickly.”

Created by West Village, NYC-based Rally Labs LLC, the pill recently received FDA-approval—just in time for holiday party season—and is available for delivery on the company’s website ForHangovers.com or at Ricky’s NYC stores for $2.99 for a single dose or $11.99 for six. They are expected to hit Duane Reade drugstores in January.
