Real Chicago Hot Dog, Simon Kitchen + Bar at Hard Rock Hotel Palm Springs, and the Hard Rock Hotel in Chicago
The upscale hot dog trend is a known entity to Chicago natives, and we’d be remiss not to salute the Windy City’s take on a frank. A Chicago hot dog done right has been “dragged through the garden” thanks to its loads of signature veggie toppings. But perhaps even more importantly, Chicagoans wouldn’t dare squeeze ketchup on their dogs. Debuting on the summer menus in Chicago (and Palm Springs, too), the Hard Rock has perfected the Chicago classic: A footlong Vienna Beef hot dog, topped with relish, onions, tomatoes, pickle spears, sport peppers, celery salt, and served on a giant, gourmet poppy seed bun. Order up the dog after a day in the desert hiking through Coachella Valley or find it in its native habitat, Chicago, after a stroll along the river. Either way, hold the ketchup.
