The IPA has grown into an American icon, but in craft beer there are no sacred cows, and brewers are constantly tweaking and twisting the bitter style in new directions. The citrus-infused IPA is the latest mutation to go big. Now, don't confuse this with a shandy or radler (those are beer-soda hybrids), these are full-strength IPAs flavored with real fruit — whether juice, flesh, or peel. The grapefruit, orange, and lemon that brewers add play off the citrus-like aromas of American hops.
