Healthy Election Night Cocktails

Election cocktails rotator

Let’s face it: Love them or hate them, most politicians are full of hot air.

That’s why we couldn’t help but chuckle when the folks at Polar Seltzer sent over these politically correct election-night drink recipes—one mocktail and one cocktail—built around their brand of zero-calorie, sugar-free, bubbly (i.e. equally-full-of-air) beverages.

So as we all hang in there during the final day of what seems to have been the longest presidential campaign ever, consider this your friendly Men’s Fitness reminder to get out there and vote. And for performing your civic duty, we hereby grant you permission to indulge or imbibe afterwards. Just promise us you’ll choose your next president—and your next splurge—wisely?

He may flip-flop on some of the other issues, but one thing Mr. Romney has made clear during this campaign: his love for sugar will never waiver. And with just a touch of cream and chocolate syrup, this non-alcoholic drink is designed to satisfy any sweet tooth…without too much dietary damage.

  • Splash of Cream
  • Chocolate syrup
  • Polar Mint Chocolate Seltzer
  • Sprig of mint, as garnish

In a cocktail shaker combine the cream and the chocolate syrup with ice. Shake vigorously, and then pour into a glass. Top generously with Polar Mint Chocolate Seltzer. Stir gently. Garnish with mint.

Known to order matching margaritas, this recipe captures the first couple’s commitment to healthy food choices—and Mr. Obama’s Hawaiian origins.

  • 1 part Patron Tequila
  • 1 part Cointreau
  • 1 part pineapple juice
  • 1 part freshly squeezed lime juice
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Polar Raspberry-Lime Seltzer
  • Fresh pineapple, garnish

Combine all of the ingredients, other than the seltzer in a cocktail shaker with crushed ice. Shake vigorously, until it shows condensation. Pour into glass. Top with Polar Seltzer, Garnish with skewered pineapple.
