Dill
Dill adds a tangy smoky flavor to fish, chicken, pork, and, of course, pickles. Dill can be grown as an annual though it self-seeds so a dill patch can be kept up for more than one year. Unlike most herbs, dill does not do well transplanted so it is best to plant seeds directly in the ground in mid to late spring. Plant seeds a quarter-inch deep in rich soil in rows a foot and a half apart. Water regularly until strong growth begins, then wait for the soil to dry before were watering again. Dill is a good companion to grow alongside cabbage.
