How to Make the Perfect Overloaded Burger

Don’t let the purists tell you otherwise: there is no shame in getting an overloaded burger, especially if it’s done right. When it’s the type that balances every flavor you could ask for — one that you have to truly work on and savor — a burger with the works is one of the finest things you can experience between two buns. And although some burgers that you measure in inches and not ounces could fall into the territory of monsters you’re likely to see on a show like Man v. Food, a truly great overloaded burger has snap and crunch, and is built in a way that lets you taste the salty, sweet, bitter, and sour in every bite.

A visceral experience just as much as one that messes with your tastebuds, the Burke & Wills Aussie Burger is the burger as a perfect meal. Yes, it will have you thinking about going for a jog to run off the calories, but that’s really the point of a perfect burger: you’re supposed to be a glutton. You go out of your way to make or order a burger like this because nothing less will do. 

Aussie Burger with the Lot

  • 4 oz. burger patty grilled to liking 
  • 1 slice cheddar cheese
  • 2 slices of bacon
  • Caramelized onions
  • 1 egg cooked sunny side up
  • 1 slice grilled pineapple

Place in oven on burger bun at 350 for two minutes, take out, then top with:

  • 1 slice Pickled beet
  • 1 slice tomato
  • Romaine lettuce
