How to Make the Perfect Raspberry Basil Mojito

Escape the summer heat with this refreshingly health-conscious cocktail.

This raspberry basil mojito isn’t just refreshing on a hot day—it also replenishes the manganese you’re sweating out in the gym, which is vital for metabolizing protein and carbs. Plus, you’ll get a healthy dose of fiber, thanks to the berries.


Sure, cocktails aren’t the ideal sources of fiber and manganese. But if you’re at the bar on #mojitoday, then you might as well try one.

To make the calorie-free simple syrup in this exotic elixir, bring equal parts water and sugar substitute to a boil, remove it from heat, and let it cool. You can refrigerate it and use to mix up other cocktails as needed.

  • 10 fresh raspberries
  • 4 mint leaves
  • 4 basil leaves
  • 3 lime wedges
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup with sugar subsitute
  • 2 oz club soda
  • 2 oz diet lemon-lime soda
  • 1 1/4 oz Cruzan rum
Using a bar muddler or a wooden spoon, mash raspberries, mint, basil, lime wedges, and simple syrup in a tall glass.

Fill glass with ice. Add club soda and lemon-lime soda; top off with rum.

Garnish with mint, basil, and two raspberries. Serve.
