Brewer: Brouwerij St. Bernardus
Style: Belgian Witbier
Situated down the road from the world-famous Westvleteren, the considerably more available St. Bernardus creates some of Belgium’s best abbey-style beers, but without the monks. Outside its line of dubbels, tripels, and quads, however, is a gem of a witbier. It’s a slightly thicker, juicier take on the Belgian wheat beer with big orange peel, peach, and apricot flavors over a spicy, bready wheat backbone.
