6. Berries
One of the few food categories that could truly be considered super, berries—strawberries, blueberries, black berries, raspberries—should be a constant in your diet.
“Berries are rich in health-protective phytonutrients,” says Clark. These anti-inflammatory plant compounds—resveratrol, rheosmin, elligaitannins—offer up a host of benefits: they might reduce the risk of developing diabetes, obesity, and heart disease. “They’re also tasty,” says Clark. “It doesn’t matter if you buy frozen or fresh, because freezing doesn’t destroy the nutritional value, and frozen are usually more affordable.”
