Cleveland may not be a metropolis on the level of New York or Chicago, but when it comes to hot dogs, the Forest City is up there with the best of them. The Cleveland-style hot dog, or a Polish Boy, means a kielbasa on a roll covered with french fries, barbecue sauce (the sweeter the better) or hot sauce, and coleslaw. It’s a penchant of barbecue joints and food trucks across the city, and has received a lot of major attention recently after being featured on a few popular food shows.
So next time you happen to driving through northern Ohio or have a long layover in the Sixth City, try to track down a truck like Seti’s Polish Boys or Steve’s Lunch and experience for yourself the singular taste that comes from biting through fries soggy with barbecue sauce and slaw with that thick kielbasa.
