North Dakota: Iron Horse
Brewer: Fargo Brewing
Style: American Pale Ale
Until the last decade, North Dakotans lived without any local breweries, despite (as two of Fargo Brewing’s owners noticed) the citizens ranking in the top five nationally for per capita beer consumption. Opening in 2010, Fargo Brewing made its mark by expertly brewing classic ales. And while its Wood Chipper IPA is a fun cinematic nod, the Iron Horse pale ale is the star of their line in our opinion. The easy-drinking 5-percent beer matches big floral American hops with toasty barley, while an addition of oats smoothes out the profile.
